Harbor Aquatics Club – Swim Lesson Instructor

Harbor Aquatics Club is looking for enthusiastic candidates to teach in-water swim lessons. Our swim lessons are taught with no greater than a 4:1 participant to instructor ratio. The position will require working in-water with participants. Most sessions will be held weekdays in the afternoons/evenings.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a technique forward approach, is comfortable working with young children, is able to display a fun and energetic demeanor, understands how to maintain a safe lessons environment, and is able to provide guidance/feedback to young children. Most participants will have very little swimming experience so the ideal candidate will understand how to handle safety concerns with water and beginners.

The position will work primarily out of Peninsula High School Pool with some sessions potentially at Gig Harbor High School Pool and the Canterwood Country Club Pool. Gig Harbor, Washington

Qualifications/expectations:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Background as an aquatics athlete is preferred
  • Coaching or swim lessons instructor experience welcomed but not required.  
  • CPR/AED or Lifeguard certification required, or willingness to complete CPR/AED or Lifeguard certification before start date.

Compensation:

Instructors start at $18/hour with opportunities to increase to $25/hour with additional training and experience. The ideal candidate would be available to work at least 2 afternoons a week, with the opportunity to work up 5 afternoons a week.

Harbor Aquatics Club – Assistant Swim Coach

Harbor Aquatics Club is looking for an experienced, high quality, coach who is able to demonstrate strong leadership, swim technique competency, and a positive coaching demeanor. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a technique forward approach and will work well with athletes of all levels. The ideal candidate will be able to provide positive and constructive feedback to the athletes, provide competitive training, and provide a fun and safe environment.

The position will require working weeknight practices and some weekend practices/meets. The position will primarily coach novice to intermediate level swimmers with occasional coaching of our advanced and elite athletes. 

The position will work primarily out of Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Qualifications/expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Background as an aquatics athlete is preferred
  • Two or more years of coaching on a competitive swim team
  • Current USA Swimming Membership in good standing, or willingness to complete all requirements in a timely manner. USA Swimming coaching membership includes CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Criminal Background Check, Athlete Protection Training, Concussion Protocol Training, USADA Coach’s Advantage Tutorial, Foundations of Coaching 101 & 201, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license required

Compensation:

Pay is based upon experience at a competitive rate per swim practice coached. Meets are compensated by an hourly rate. The ideal candidate would be available to work at least 3 practices a week, with the opportunity to work up 5 practices a week.

Harbor Aquatics Club – Lifeguard

Harbor Aquatics Club is looking for enthusiastic Liefguards who are Lifeguard Certified or willing to complete certification asap. The position will require lifeguarding poolside weekdays in the afternoons/evenings.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate all lifeguarding skills before hire, is comfortable in the water, is able to display a mature & responsible demeanor, understands the team safety approach, and has lifeguarding experience.  

The position will work primarily out of Peninsula High School Pool with some sessions potentially at Gig Harbor High School Pool and the Canterwood Country Club Pool. Gig Harbor, Washington

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Background as an aquatics athlete is preferred
  • Lifeguarding experience welcomed but not required.  
  • Certified Lifeguard, or willingness to complete Lifeguard certification before start date. Accepted Lifeguard certification organizations include: Red Cross, Jeff Ellis, YMCA, Lifeguard Pro, & StarGuard Elite.

Compensation:

Lifeguards start at $18/hour with opportunities to increase to $25/hour with additional training and experience. The ideal candidate would be available to work at least 2 afternoons a week, with the opportunity to work up 5 afternoons a week. Lifeguards may be eligible to for lifeguard course compensation.
